AMAZING Craigslist find!

Let me start by saying that I did not find this amazing treasure.  My dad who is absolutely obsessed with craigslist found this for me last night.  My mom and I have several sewing machines between the two of us, so every time my dad finds a new one & mentions it we usually just blow it off.  However, when my niece called me last night to ask if I was interested in this one I was intrigued by the cabinet itself, not really the machine.  After a few emails and phone calls my dad headed off to look at it.

He showed up at my house about an hour later telling me that it was a piece of junk & he decided not to buy it.  I was a little disappointed, but I really didn't need another sewing machine anyway so I let it go.  We stood around and talked for a while before he said, "Okay, come help me unload it."  That's my dad.

Now, when we carried the extremely heavy cabinet into my house I honestly wasn't expecting much.  I immediately fell in love with the cabinet.  The gentleman we purchased it from was selling his mother-in-law's estate & didn't know anything about the sewing machine itself.  He left everything in the drawers just as she had left it & sold the whole lot to us for $20.  Well, the items in the drawers as well as the cabinet were worth far more than that so I was getting pretty excited.  Then we opened the cabinet & lifted the sewing machine out.  I can't tell you how happy I was.  This machine is beautiful & it works!  How cool is that?

So, this morning I couldn't wait to snap some pictures of it to share.  Now, this thing is heavy so I couldn't actually get it into my sewing/crafting room by myself, but I couldn't let that stop me.  I slowly scooted it over to the wall & started snapping away.  I have horrible lighting in that room & I still haven't figured out my camera so the pictures aren't great.  However, I think you can get the idea.  My new baby is a Domestic Rotary machine.  From the research I've done it seems to have been made between 1946 and 1953.  I still have to clean & oil it, but you can bet I'll be using it by this weekend.  So, for all of you out there who doubt that you can find anything on craigslist, let me tell you that there are treasures to be found.

Thanks Dad!
